Rocky Mountain, North Carolina – Two men were arrested and faced multiple drug and gun charges as a result of suspected illegal activity in a parking lot at Rocky Mount Mall.
Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone and his deputies were following complaints about the sale of illegal drugs and other illegal activity in the parking lot of the Golden East Mall on Thursday.
Stone saw two men near two vehicles selling drugs in the Dunham’s Sports parking lot. As MPs walked towards a Toyota Highlander and a Chrysler 300, Dominique Macklin-Cooper exited the passenger side of the Toyota Highlander with a handgun in his hand.
Macklin-Cooper threw the handgun inside the Chrysler 300 in an attempt to hide it from deputies there, according to a statement. The Nash County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Maya was deployed and detected illegal narcotics in both vehicles.
Approximately 250 grams of marijuana and edibles made from marijuana were found during a vehicle search. In Dominique Macklin-Cooper’s vehicle, a loaded Glock 43 caliber 9mm pistol as well as an additional magazine of 50 9mm rounds were located. In Michael Wiggins’ vehicle, authorities found a pistol loaded with an extended magazine.
About $ 1,600 was also seized between the two men.
Wiggins was charged with one count of possession with intent to sell / deliver marijuana and one count of vehicle maintenance for a witness substance. Macklin-Cooper has been charged with one count of possession of marijuana up to half an ounce and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.
