Imran is trying to start a civil war, says Sherpao – Newspaper


PESHAWAR: The Qaumi Watan party has described former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s account of the plot as totally untrue and an attempt to divert people’s attention from his government’s performance.

Addressing a gathering of workers at his party’s secretariat here on Saturday, QWP chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said the former prime minister was trying to hide his poor performance from the people.

On this occasion, the party also hosted a reception for the newly elected chairman of Harban-Bhasha tehsil of Kohistan, Asadullah Qureshi, and other office bearers.

Insists ex-PM wants to hide his government’s poor performance

Mr Sherpao said Pakistani leader Tehreek-i-Insaf was now trying to distract people from his government’s performance. “Imran Khan is trying to start a civil war in the country,” he remarked.

The QWP leader alleged that the deposed prime minister was inciting youths to violence and creating anarchy. He added that the country was isolated due to the poor foreign policy of the former PTI government.

He further stated that Imran was busy slandering state institutions for his vested interests and dragging them into politics.

He said that the faulty economic policies of the former government caused inflation in the country.

“Due to his flawed policies, Imran has pushed the country to the brink of bankruptcy,” he said, adding that although the PTI government took out huge loans, it could not revive the economy. .

Mr. Sherpao said there was a dire need to educate young people about the fallout from the ill-conceived policies of the former PTI-led government.

The QWP chairman said the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should introduce electoral reforms at the earliest to pave the way for the holding of free, fair and transparent elections so that the people can elect their true representatives.

He recalled that his party, when in government, had served all parts of the province, especially Kohistan which received the forest royalty.
