The food drive is part of a regional partnership to raise 2 million pounds of food
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Throughout the month, The Salvation Army of La Crosse County has been on a mission to help collect 2 million pounds of food from across the region.
The food drive is a partnership between The Salvation Army and Morrie’s Auto Group.
The first half of the campaign raised 483 pounds of food locally, said Isaiah Thomas, director of corps development.
The agency hopes to raise 1,000 pounds once the month is over to add to the region’s total.
“It just shows the extension of support for our community,” Thomas said. “Both our unsheltered population and our community in need. So, those who are hungry, we are able to provide them with different food items through this food drive. »
The Salvation Army is exploring future opportunities to continue its partnership with Morrie’s, Thomas said.
Food will be donated to community members and those staying at the Salvation Army shelter.
