Marvel’s Avengers update surprises Civil War fans

A new Marvel’s Avengers the in-game store update has a special surprise for Civil war Fans. At launch, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix decided not to exploit the popularity of the MCU, much to the frustration of many Marvel fans. In fact, not only did the game not take too much advantage of the MCU, but the game did quite a few things to distance itself from the movies. For example, the game didn’t have MCU skins for characters at launch, and it didn’t for several months after launch. However, following a backlash, Crystal Dynamics eventually started releasing MCU skins and he hasn’t looked back since, suggesting they were popular.

The latest MCU skin is for Hawkeye, and that’s the character’s outfit in Captain America: Civil War. And as the tweet below notes, the skin can be earned in Shipments with Units by February 3. In other words, for many with saved units, it’s a free skin. Sadly, for those who can’t afford it, that means crushing the game, as it can’t be purchased, which some fans don’t like. Meanwhile, others are not happy that the hair is not precise.

When Crystal Dynamics started releasing MCU skins, it was criticized for not going the extra mile for 100% replication. As you may remember, there would be certain things about each skin, usually with the hair. Recently, Crystal Dynamics fixed all of this, so it’s unclear why this is an issue again.

At the time of publication, there has been no news that the skin is available for purchase. If that changes, we’ll be sure to update the story accordingly, but it looks like players will have to work hard to get this skin, which is why it’s available until next month.

Marvel’s Avengers is available through Google Stadia, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Game Pass. For more coverage on the Avengers game, click here.
