No weapons found after JC Schools investigation

The Jefferson City School District took disciplinary action against a student after investigating a report of a weapon.

In a letter sent home to families, the school district reported that staff received a tip about a high school student with a gun on a school bus. Students from Lewis & Clark Middle School and Jefferson City High School were on the bus, according to the school district.

A spokeswoman said the school district and police have identified the student and conducted a search. No weapons were found, but other items not allowed at school were located, according to JC Schools.

The Jefferson City Police Department told ABC 17 News on Wednesday that juvenile authorities and the school district are handling the investigation. A spokeswoman for JC Schools said the school district has completed its investigation into the incident.

More details about the items found or how the school district received the tip were not available.
