Paris Saint Germain and Juventus at bidding war for Barcelona striker

Paris Saint Germain are hoping to steal Ousmane Dembélé from Juventus, with the Ligue 1 giants ready to prepare a multi-million pound proposal to sign the Frenchman.

This is according to the Spanish publication SPORT, and follows the announcement of Dembélé’s refusal to sign a new contract at Camp Nou.

Journalist Gerard Romero revealed yesterday that the striker wants a gross salary in the order of € 40million, with a signing bonus of € 20million.

The 24-year-old believes funds are available to meet his demands following the club’s acquisition of Ferran Torres for € 55m on Wednesday, but there is no indication that the Catalan squad will pay him what he wants.

In light of this, Juventus have reportedly made a deal with Dembélé and his agent to move to Italy in June, but the player is still awaiting an offer from PSG.

The French club could close the deal with Juve, who are currently leading the race to sign the Barca star.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United were the three English clubs rumored to be interested in acquiring his services as well.

Dembélé arrived in Spain from Borussia Dortmund for around £ 135million in August 2017, and has since won two La Liga titles, two Spanish Cups and one Spanish Super Cup.

But he has largely had a season to forget so far for the La Liga giants, with knee and hamstring injuries limiting his progress.

He has yet to score in eight La Liga and Champions League appearances but has recorded two assists in Barca’s last two league games against Elche and Sevilla.

Xavi’s side are back in action after the Christmas break at Real Mallorca on Sunday.
