Salvation Army hosts additional sale of female auxiliaries due to overflow of donations

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Tyler’s Salvation Army is ready for another clearance sale.

The organization normally holds its female auxiliary sale in the spring and fall. However, due to a boom in donated items such as furniture, dressers, and collectibles, it has become necessary to push back the fall date until now.

“There have been a lot of people who have moved, changed and downsized. I don’t know what is causing all of this. I know we have a lot of people coming from out of state, but people at the local level may have decided to downsize, ”said Celia Balko, Market President for Women’s Auxiliary ‘Salvation Army.

The sale will last until closing today and will take place Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm at the Salvation Army Market located at the Old Spence Building, 717 N. Spring Street in Tyler.

Items featured in the sale will include furniture, housewares, sporting goods, collectibles, linens, books, and more.

The sale is in addition to SAWA’s annual spring and fall sales and is a fundraiser for Tyler’s Salvation Army services and programs. Due to COVID-19 restrictions since last year, several annual fundraising events have been canceled, resulting in a much lower financial contribution from the auxiliary to the local office.
