The army opens fire on 2 drones flying over the military zones of Ratnuchak-Kaluchak

Alert Army troops fired at two drones found hovering over military areas of Ratnuchak-Kaluchak, a defense spokesperson said on Monday, a day after two drones dropped bombs on a IAF station.

One drone was spotted Sunday evening at 11:45 p.m. and the other at 2:40 a.m., officials said. The two drones “took off” after alert sentries shot at them.

He said a high alert was raised immediately and rapid reaction teams set off the drone fire, Army Lt. Col. Devender Anand in Jammu said in a statement.

“The two drones took off. A major threat was thwarted by the vigilance and proactive approach of the troops,” he said, adding that the security forces were on high alert and that an operation research was in progress.

Previously, official sources said the sentries quickly opened fire upon noticing the drones to shoot them down.

They said the entire area outside the military post was immediately cordoned off and a massive search operation was underway when the last reports were received.

Nothing reprehensible was found on the ground, the sources said.

The latest incident comes barely a day after a drone, in a one-of-a-kind strike, dropped two bombs on the Indian Air Force (IAF) station, causing minor injuries to two people.
