A recently unveiled exclusive Funko Pop! multipack of The Batman shows Colin Farrell’s penguin with his iconic comic book umbrella gun. Farrell is unrecognizable as Gotham City’s crime boss in Matt Reeves’ version of The Caped Crusader. Farrell stars in the film alongside Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis.

Appearing completely transformed, Farrell plays mid-level mob boss Oswald Cobblepott, a rising figure in Gotham’s criminal underworld destined to become a staple in Batman’s (Pattinson) rogues gallery. Although usually depicted as a figurehead in Gotham’s power structure, Farrell’s Penguin is just as new as the Dark Knight in Reeves’ film. As such, Reeves and Farrell compared Cobblepot to Fredo Corleone in The Godfather, describing him as a man with an unfulfilled ambition that he has yet to act on due to his circumstances. With Farrell’s Penguin taking part in car chases and battling Batman, the character is shaping up to be a key player in Reeves’ Gotham, and a newly revealed Funko Pop! teased the inclusion of one of the crime boss’s signature tools.

Farrell’s Penguin promises to capture the comical look of the character, as alongside the actor’s impressive makeup, the character is dressed in a tuxedo with a striking purple and black plaid jacket, evoking the character’s classic color scheme. The striking costume is a far cry from the outfit seen in much of the film’s promotional material, where Farrell’s penguin is dressed in a more monochrome costume with a black leather coat. The smeared look has been featured in most of the character’s merchandise, such as in Funko Pops and the character’s minifigure in LEGO. The Batman line.

With Reeves The Batman promising to be more grounded in reality, from Pattinson’s Batmobile to inspirations from Riddler’s Zodiac Killer, fans were probably expecting the Penguin’s signature weapon to be omitted. However, with the reveal of the Funko Pop! character, it looks like the director will indeed be paying homage to Cobblepott’s hidden weapon. Although it’s unclear how elaborate Penguin’s umbrella will be The Batman, the article helps Farrell’s portrayal perfectly capture the ideal image of the character for fans.
