WASHINGTON, April 26 (Reuters) – (This April 26 story corrects after White House correction to show Psaki was referring to the time it would take to obtain enough fissile material for a nuclear bomb and not the production of a a real nuclear weapon)

The White House fears Iran could develop a nuclear weapon within weeks, press secretary Jen Psaki said Tuesday, after Secretary of State Antony Blinken noted earlier in the day that the country had accelerated its nuclear program.

“Yeah, that really worries us,” Psaki said.

The White House clarified on Wednesday that although Psaki answered a question about nuclear weapons, she was referring to rupture time, which is the time it would take to get enough fissile material for a nuclear bomb, and was not making no reference to the production of a real nuclear weapon.
